frequently asked questions

What are your practitioners’ qualifications?

What are your practitioners’ qualifications?

We’re glad you ask. Our physiotherapists, exercise physiologists and occupational therapists are university qualified, registered and insured with the appropriate governing bodies and bring a wide range of professional and lived experience.

We understand that most practitioners aren’t exposed to chronic illness care during their studies and that is why our team undergoes a minimum of fifty hours of training as a part of their role. For those interested, this includes a thorough induction into our integrative model of care as well as an in-depth exploration of pain, fatigue, hypermobility, dysautonomia and post-traumatic stress.

We offer scientifically-informed management of the conditions we see, and are committed to meeting the requirements for continuing professional development at a minimum each year.

We are highly sought after for our expertise in this area with many of our practitioners actively involved in mentoring, supervision, professional development and clinical education in Australia and globally.

What can I expect of my practitioner?

What can I expect of my practitioner?

We attract a certain kind of person here at Zebras. The kind who remind themselves they are human first and healthcare workers second.

We listen deeply and think creatively. We see ourselves as walking alongside you on your journey.

If you would like to read more about our organisational values and how this informs our practice, you can find this information here.

What is the difference between an established, experienced and
emerging practitioner?

What is the difference between an established, experienced and
emerging practitioner?

In an effort to improve accessibility and more clearly showcase our wonderful practitioners we now have three carefully considered tiers for you to choose from.

Our emerging practitioners have invaluable early career experience having completed comprehensive training over a six month period as well as being regularly supervised by team leaders who themselves are established practitioners.

Our experienced practitioners have worked within their chosen discipline and our model of care for a number of years. Experienced practitioners may hold post-graduate qualifications and additional responsibility within our team, including the training and development of other team members.

Our established practitioners have extensive experience supporting individuals from our community with a wide variety of presentations. Established practitioners hold post-graduate qualifications and are involved in the supervision and development of our team and model of care. For this reason, our established practitioners have limited ongoing capacity for clinical care and will often act as a point of referral.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has...
