Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviour. At Zebras, our psychologists support people to explore thoughts, feelings, and patterns that may be causing distress or impacting daily life. This might involve working through past experiences, navigating change, or learning new ways to relate to yourself and others. We take a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach to care—grounded in safety, compassion, and curiosity.
Co-created by you and your psychologist, our care plans are designed to:
- Support you to explore patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour that may be keeping you stuck
- Offer practical tools for managing overwhelm, anxiety, and shutdown in daily life
- Build self-awareness, self-compassion, and trust in your capacity to care for yourself
- Develop personalised strategies for boundaries, communication, and lifestyle adjustments
- Help process past experiences safely using evidence-based therapies
At Zebras, psychology is more than talk therapy—it’s a relational, collaborative process grounded in curiosity, safety, and deep respect for your lived experience. Our psychologists work with you to understand the whole of who you are, gently tending to the places in your life that feel heavy, stuck, or tender. Whether you’re navigating emotional patterns, past trauma, or the invisible load of chronic illness, we’re here to help you feel more at home in yourself.
Psychology can support:
- Mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression other mood-related challenges
- Emotional overwhelm or distress following life events like relationship breakdowns, job loss, or health crises
- Ongoing stress and burnout from work, caregiving, or navigating complex systems
- Behavioural patterns such as procrastination, addiction, people-pleasing or emotional outbursts
- Relationship difficulties—whether with family, partners, friends or colleagues—including challenges with communication and trust
- Grief and loss, whether recent or long-standing, and the emotional impact of major life transitions
- Personal growth and self-awareness—deepening your understanding of your emotions, beliefs and behaviours
- Identity exploration, including neurodivergence and the process of receiving a late diagnosis
- Coping with trauma, both recent and historic, through evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, schema therapy, ACT, DBT and trauma-informed CBT
- The emotional toll of living with a chronic condition, including the burden of feeling misunderstood or unsupported
While we’re trained in assessment and diagnosis, our focus is always on understanding your story in its full context—honouring your needs, your capacity, and the direction you want to grow.
